Bethune United Church of Canada will celebrate its 125th Anniversary on July 19th and 20th, 2008. The congregation is inviting all former ministers and congregants as well as new friends and visitors to join in the celebrations.
Founded by Probationary Presbyterian student minister, Malcolm Bethune, father of Dr. Norman Bethune, the church was dedicated on July 29, 1883 and is now served by Pastor Sue Wood.
The birthday celebrations will start on the afternoon of Saturday, July 19th with the dedication and guided walk of the "Muskoka" style labyrinth, led by Rev. Dr. Gailand MacQueen, author of The Spirituality of Mazes and Labyrinths. The day's festivities will continue with a community barbecue, bon-fire and old-fashioned sing-along.
Sunday worship will include an honouring of our elder congregants, special music commemorative service and a prayerful walking of the labyrinth.
